How does a cyclone work

What is a hydrocyclone? How it works, I believe many friends are not very clear, the following cyclone manufacturers will give you a brief introduction:
  What is a hydrocyclone
Hydrocyclones, or more simply cyclones, and variants such as McLanahan Separators? can be used in a variety of applications, including classification, desilting, fine powder recovery, densification and dewatering.
  Hydrocyclone use
They can be used in sand, aggregate, coal, industrial minerals, hard rock mining and other industries. Hydrocyclones were invented in the late 1800s. Because of their relatively low price, large processing capacity, small floor space and no moving parts, they are widely used in mineral processing.
Hydrocyclones are very simple machines, but require proper use of process knowledge. Although there are many configurations, most hydrocyclones have a cylindrical upper (feed) section with a tangential or involute feed inlet, followed by a lower conical section with a vertex at the end. The design of bolt parts combined with rubber lining makes them easy to operate and maintain. Other liners such as polyurethane and ceramics can also be used.
How does a cyclone work,
  How does a hydrocyclone work
The slurry enters the inlet at the specified pressure and volume. Regardless of the shape or configuration of the inlet, the mud follows the falling of the upper tank in a rotating manner. The resulting centrifugal force sends the rougher material to the outer wall, causing it to propagate downward and further accelerate in the tapered part. Then, these coarser fractions flow out through the apex or sleeve at the bottom of the hydrocyclone. The fine particles rotate with the fluid in the inner core and are removed upward by the air core.
When air is sucked into the hydrocyclone, the air core is formed at the socket/top. The vortex detector provides a channel for the air to leave the hydrocyclone body. As the air flows through the vortex detector, the fluid and finer parts are dragged away for material sorting. The hollow core is very important for the normal operation of the cyclone separator. If the hollow core is not formed due to excessive solid discharge (called a knot), the cyclone separator will not be able to effectively classify the slurry. The size of the apex/tip fits the expected range of solids. Major process changes may require adjustment of the tap/top size.
The hydrocyclone uses a hollow core that is formed at the apex and extends to the vortex probe. The formation of the hollow core is essential for separation. If it collapses, the separation efficiency will drop sharply. Therefore, the idea of ??modifying the hydrocyclone to completely remove the air core is doomed to fail.
Through the above introduction of Chaishang Trading Co., Ltd., I believe that everyone has some understanding of hydrocyclones. For other questions about cyclones, please refer to other content on this site or call for detailed inquiries.
